Oral Presentation
How long is my presentation:
Oral Sessions - 9 minute talk with 2 minutes for Q&A
Promising Scientist Award Session - 15 minute talk with 4 minutes for Q&A
Please be respectful of attendees and other presenters’ time. Be sure to practice before your presentation to make sure you are within the time limits. Moderators will be strict on timing to ensure sessions run smoothly.
Preparing your presentation:
All oral presentations should be made using Powerpoint. The presentation computer uses Microsoft Office. Its specifications are as follows: Dell Optiplex 7060, Desktop OS Windows 10, Intel I5-8500 CPU, 8GB RAM. If you are making your Powerpoint on an Apple computer, please verify it works on a standard PC before the conference. NOTE: You will NOT be able to use your own computer for presentation. We are broadcasting through Zoom, and all oral presentations will be shared on the presentation computer in the room.
Presentation instructions the day of:
Please name your file by the oral session number, underscore, your last name with no spaces. For example, a talk by Quinton Jones in the first oral session would be named “1_Jones”.
Oral presentations should be loaded onto the presentation computer before 12:30 pm for Friday presentations and 8:30 am for Saturday presentations. Saturday presentations can be loaded on Friday. NOTE: You will NOT be able to use your own computer for presentation. See above.
Poster Presentation
Preparing your poster:
The poster boards at SCASB are 39” tall and 59” wide. We recommend a poster size of 36” tall x 48” wide. You are free to make a poster that is larger; however, it would hang off of our poster board slightly.
Preparing your presentation:
Most poster presentations are between 3-4 minutes long. Please practice your presentation to ensure it meets that time. This allows extensive time for you to engage in conversations and Q&A with those visiting your poster. It will also ensure that our judges can get to all presentations in the allotted time. Please be respectful of attendees and other presenters’ time. Be sure to practice before your presentation to make sure you are within the time limits.
Hanging your poster:
Please hang your poster on the poster board labeled with your poster number. If you are unsure of your poster number, please see the registration desk. Posters should be hung before 1:00 pm and taken down before leaving Friday. Any posters not collected by Saturday noon will be thrown away.
